MGM Resorts International and BetMGM are intensifying their commitment to responsible gaming by partnering with the American Gaming Association for Responsible Gaming Education Month 2024. The initiative, featuring NFL collaborations and GameSense promotions, aims to educate audiences on safer gambling practices, improve industry standards, and foster a more responsible gaming environment.
September 2024 has been declared Responsible Gaming Education Month, and both MGM Resorts International and BetMGM are partnering with the American Gaming Association (AGA) to spread awareness. This partnership demonstrates the firms’ continuity in promoting responsible gaming in the casino and sports betting industries.
As part of the effort, MGM Resorts and BetMGM have used their deeply entrenched presence in the gambling business to launch a marketing campaign with the National Football League (NFL).
This is the second year of the campaign, including physical and digital billboards that will promote GameSense – an enhanced version of the responsible gambling initiative.
GameSense was created by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and was integrated into MGM Resorts in 2017 to encourage consumers to avoid engaging in institutionalized gambling and to generally promote more awareness regarding gambling disorders.
BetMGM’s Chief Compliance Officer, Rhea Loney, said the company remains committed to ensuring a safer gambling environment.
She also told him that they would look forward to implementing more of their socially responsible gaming to NFL venues in the current season that was coming, stating that BetMGM is dedicated to ensuring that they set the tone in the industry as far as safety and awareness is concerned.
Loney pointed out that protecting players and promoting safe gaming are critical requirements for the industry to consider in supporting the expansion of sports betting.
The campaign with the NFL is to reach millions of fans, which will remind them of the company’s commitment to the promotion of safer gambling and to improve the relations between gamblers and the gambling industry.
MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have been increasing efforts to protect consumers from gambling-related harm by deepening their partnership with the American Gaming Association (AGA) in Responsible Gaming Education Month in RGEM 2024.
As per the program, the companies are taking the responsible gaming messages straight to the fans in the NFL stadiums, illustrating their commitment to raising the bar in safety and awareness within the sports betting space.
BetMGM Chief Compliance Officer Rhea Loney highlighted the significance of the initiative, noting that the company is committed to establishing new benchmarks for safety and awareness within the industry. She emphasized that safeguarding players and encouraging responsible play are crucial to the future of sports betting at BetMGM.
Central to the campaign is GameSense, one of the leading responsible gambling programs in the sector, developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and adopted by MGM Resorts in 2017. The program focuses on promoting transparency in the gaming sector and fostering positive interactions between companies and consumers.
MGM Resorts and BetMGM are elevating responsible gambling practices across the country through their partnership with the NFL. According to the AGA, the initiative helps set a higher benchmark for responsible gaming standards, which have seen notable improvement nationwide.
A recent survey by the AGA revealed that the majority of Americans view the gambling industry favorably, with 65% believing the sector is actively working to raise responsible gaming standards and improve understanding of problem gambling.
This positive perception underscores the growing impact of initiatives like RGEM, as companies continue to prioritize player protection and responsible play.
MGM Resorts International and BetMGM are reinforcing their commitment to responsible gaming by expanding their partnership with the National Football League (NFL) and investing in research initiatives.
Following their 2023 collaboration, the companies continue to leverage their platforms to promote responsible gambling messaging to broader audiences during Responsible Gaming Education Month (RGEM) in 2024.
MGM Resorts has allocated $440,000 to support responsible gambling research through partnerships with the International Center for Responsible Gaming and the Kindbridge Research Institute. This funding aims to advance studies on responsible gaming practices, enhancing industry standards and player protection measures.
In addition to research funding, MGM Resorts and BetMGM are focusing on increasing employee awareness about problem gambling. Through training programs conducted with EPIC Global Solutions, employees are equipped to identify signs of problem gambling and educate consumers on best practices.
These efforts are part of the companies’ RGEM responsibilities and their broader mission to create a safer gambling environment.
By continuing to invest in research, employee training, and public awareness campaigns, MGM Resorts and BetMGM are setting a higher standard for responsible gaming in the industry, demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding players and promoting a culture of responsible play.
