A Greensboro resident, Danny Johnson Jr., has won $150,000 from the North Carolina Education Lottery’s Holiday Cash 50X scratch-off ticket. Purchased at High Point BP, the $5 ticket delivered one of its top prizes, with odds of 1 in 1,165,425.
An exceptionally lucky North Carolina lottery player plans on renovating their home after winning six figures off of a $5 scratch-off ticket.
In its latest press release on Monday, the North Carolina Education Lottery said that a Greensboro resident has won a top prize from its widely favored Holiday Cash 50X scratch-off ticket.
The lucky winner’s name is Danny Johnson Jr., who purchased the ticket that won the jackpot from the High Point BP on Greensboro Road in High Point. The Holiday Cash 50X ticket has a 1:1,165,425 chance of winning the highest prize. However, luck was finally on his side when the day resulted in a top prize of $150,000 for his ticket.
In a conversation with officials of the Lottery, the fortunate one said: “I cracked a smile when I first saw it (the win). But I tried to keep it cool.”
Reminding one of the excitement associated with victory, the man said, “I wanted to holler but I knew better.”
Only a short time had passed since Johnson’s win on Friday before his trip on Monday to the Lottery headquarters to stake his claim.
Netting all applicable state and federal taxes, the Greensboro resident’s banking account increased by $107,251. When people asked him what he intended to do with the unexpected windfall, the lucky lottery winner replied, “My house has needed a lot of work for years.”
Third, the lucky winner acknowledged that the scratch-off win was a complete life-changer.
Plenty of prizes remain to be claimed in the $5 holiday-themed scratch-off game.
A short month ago, the North Carolina Education Lottery unveiled a Holiday Cash 50X instant scratch-off ticket on Nov 5, 2024.
However, Johnson’s win of $150,000 was the second time he had won a top prize, and there were only two left.
The lucky Greensboro citizen said he likes to try new scratch-off tickets. No doubt, this was the ticket that brought him very good fortune-indeed, by surprise. Holiday Cash 50X gives participants a possibility of winning a prize between $5 and $150,000 at a price of $5 for a ticket. A prize of tier two will win a $10,000 amount and the chances to win such a prize are at 1 in 776,950. In the beginning, there were six prizes of $10,000 but now, only two remain active at Holiday Cash 50X. The overall prize-winning chances for any prize at all using the Lottery holiday-themed popular ticket are 4.18 times.
