The American Gaming Association (AGA) has expanded its public service campaign, Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly., with a fifth pillar titled “Keep Your Cool.” This addition promotes responsible sports betting by emphasizing entertainment and condemning athlete harassment.
The American Gaming Association (AGA), the national trade group for the United States casino industry, has confirmed the expansion of its public service campaign titled “Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly.”.
The Association confirmed in a press release that its advocacy has launched a new fifth pillar called “Keep Your Cool.”
The new pillar further enhances AGA’s public service campaign and, as its title implies, the one that promotes responsible wagering on sports among bettors.
In addition, the “Keep Your Cool.” pillar condemns harassment of athletes and knows that harassment is never acceptable.
In 2019, the American Gaming Association launched its campaign, Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly. Since launching the campaign, it had established four foundational pillars, including:
The two pillars, therefore, should make sports gamblers set a financial limit and as well wager responsibly.
On the other hand, third and fourth pillars promote the use of legally and regulated betting operators and also making one understand what risks and proper gaming vocabulary is when one indulges in wagering practices.
The Newest pillar, titled “Keep Your Cool,” contains two distinct aspects.
One of the principles of the pillar asserts: “Stay Focused on Having Fun.” This principle is self-evident and promotes the idea that bettors should participate in sports wagering as a source of entertainment.
The second principle of the pillar is equally important and is called “Respect the Game.”
The underlying principle is that although losses and wins are inherent in sports betting, negative emotions—such as attacks or insults—are unacceptable online or in person.
AGA has released the expansion plan concerning its public service campaign in response to research data that showed the positive effectiveness of responsible gaming programs throughout the United States.
Earlier this year, the Association confirmed that, according to its most recent research, a significant majority of 66% of Americans believe that various responsible gaming initiatives are effective.
This outcome, as pointed out earlier, is higher than that achieved in the preceding year, 59%.
Furthermore, it was also reported that 79% of land-based casino players and 85% of sports bettors acknowledged the effectiveness of responsible gaming programs. Equally as important, among the 18-24 demographic of sports bettors, nearly 73% said the programs work.
AGA’s CEO and President, Bill Miller, expressed his joy regarding the new announcement. “Responsible gaming initiatives, such as Have A Game Plan, together with other proactive measures taken by licensed operators, are resonating with the consumer and bringing about change,” he revealed. Miller concluded by saying, “Keep Your Cool builds on this momentum by reminding bettors that a betting result – whether favorable or unfavorable – should not be regarded as an opportunity to criticize a team, official, or athlete.”
