Pennsylvania has suffered from a slow launch process for its gambling apps. Although the state approved online casino gambling in 2017, the actual online implementation process has been slow. It took two years for the first online casino to get approval. Until now, an all-in-one gambling app with a sportsbook hadn’t happened. DraftKings has solved that problem. It has an all-in-one app its customers can use to gamble across multiple platforms.
DraftKings began in 2012 as a fantasy sports betting site. People would pick a roster of players for a major sport, such as football and basketball. They would put money on the fantasy sports team in tournament play. The person with the most points would win the tournament and the prize money. Because the clients weren’t betting on sports teams themselves, the DraftKings site was able to continue legally. After many states legalized sports betting, DraftKings continued to expand.
DraftKings now has sportsbooks in seven states. The company also has agreements with the NFL, MLB, NASCAR, NHL, and the NBA. It has broadcasting partnerships with media companies, such as CNN’s Bleacher Report, Fox Sports, and ESPN. That’s not bad for a company that used to focus only on fantasy sports.
There has never been a better time to have a casino app. The pandemic has closed casinos in nearly every state along the East Coast and South. Increasingly, people have turned to online gambling. Some experts suggest that gambling online may have increased by as much as 120 percent since the pandemic began.
DraftKings wanted to be the first all-in-one gambling app to make it into the Pennsylvania market. Unfortunately, FanDuel got there first. It opened the first inclusive app in the state in late June. However, DraftKings has a huge presence in Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Jersey, Indiana, New Hampshire, West Virginia, and Colorado.
The DraftKings app went live on July 14. It includes space for sports betting with the DraftKings sportsbook. Players participate in fantasy sports and sports betting. Because DraftKings does not have a casino, it partnered with Hollywood Casino to create an inclusive casino app. Hollywood Casino has a casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville. The casino company has 33 casinos in total. Most are in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and South.
The app has a shared wallet, which means that players can play casino games or bet on sporting events. Players can take advantage of 16 different table games. The table games include 10 varieties of blackjack, three kinds of roulette, and 26 different slots. The DraftKings app also has different types of poker. The company is currently developing its live dealer studios to have live blackjack, poker, and roulette games.
To play on the app, customers have to download it onto their phone or tablet. Customers can then open an account with DraftKings and start gambling or placing bets in the sportsbook. If the customer already has a DraftKings account, he or she can use his or her existing account on the app. Once people have an account, the gambling app is all ready to use.
