As North Carolina prepares for online sports betting, DraftKings and BetMGM secure market access, aligning launches with March Madness. BetMGM’s collaboration with Charlotte Motor Speedway and DraftKings’ exclusive deal with NASCAR showcase strategic partnerships in a state boasting over 10 million people. These moves signal a dynamic entry into North Carolina’s thriving sports environment.
Since online sportsbooks are about to open in North Carolina, DraftKings and BetMGM have ensured they can enter the market. Currently, the sector is set to go live just in time for the very popular March Madness college basketball tournament. The initial goal of being ready by the Super Bowl in February was set too soon by the state’s regulator.
BetMGM has teamed up with the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and DraftKings made a deal with NASCAR. After making deals with the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA and the Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour, this one comes after those. In North Carolina, professional sports teams, some venues, and governing bodies can work together with people who run sportsbooks.
When BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt talked about the new partnership with the Charlotte Motor Speedway, he emphasized how excited he was to open in a state with more than 10 million people and one of the best sports scenes in the country.
The Charlotte Motor Speedway was built in 1959 and has been the site of many famous races since then, such as the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race every Memorial Day weekend.
Greg Walter, General Manager and Executive Vice President of the motorsports venue was also happy about the news. He thinks it will help the state get more big sporting events in the future.
Along with getting access to new markets through its deal with NASCAR, DraftKings will now be NASCAR’s only daily fantasy sports partner in North America. It will get better sponsorship benefits as an Authorised Gaming Operator of the racing organization.
DraftKings has sportsbooks in 25 states right now. The first place it will go live is Vermont on January 11. North Carolina is next on the list.
President of DraftKings North America, Matt Kalish, talked about how close the two companies have been and how excited he is for the next chapter. Joe Solosky, Managing Director of Sports Betting for NASCAR, agreed with this and said that DraftKings has a “proven track record of enhancing the fan experience across sports.”
