DraftKings has partnered with the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians to launch a retail sportsbook at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino in Wisconsin. The sportsbook, featuring six kiosks and over-the-counter betting, will offer an enhanced gaming experience starting August 28, 2024.
DraftKings has officially entered into a new strategic partnership with the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, allowing the company to open a retail sportsbook at the tribe’s casino, Lake of the Torches Resort Casino.
DraftKings said it will launch its sportsbook on Wednesday, August 28, a significant move as part of DraftKings’ continuing expansion across North America. With the new market partnership, the DraftKings Sportsbook will be commercialized in 28 states, the District of Columbia, Ontario, and Canada, expanding its market base.
The betting terminals will be six betting kiosks, and the over-the-counter betting will be located right on the casino floor and near Woody’s Bar & Grill. This process is viewed as part of DraftKings’ history in the United States, and Michael Kibort, the Vice President of Retail Sportsbooks at DraftKings, illustrates it.
Kibort said he has much to look forward to working with the company as DraftKings has established a good working relationship with the new partners. He was keen on ensuring that the firm was offering the best sports betting to the players in Wisconsin.
Kibort also stated that ensuring the best possible experience for customers has always been a crucial focus for the company, and expanding this offering to another state marks a proud moment for DraftKings.
This retail sportsbook launch reflects DraftKing’s commitment to increasing its markets and improving the sports betting markets in the United States.
First, Lake of the Torches Resort Casino, based in Wisconsin, will launch retail sports betting, which will mean that a new sportsbook will be accessible to those who are 21 and above.
Bill Guelcher, the casino’s CEO, also conveyed the casino’s enthusiasm towards establishing the partnership with DraftKings, as it would mean extending their gaming area with the brand that would benefit from high product performance.
Guelcher noted that this collaboration with DraftKings, a leader in the sports betting industry, aligns perfectly with the casino’s broader ambitions to enhance its offerings.
The casino, located on the scenic Pokegama Lake in the Northwoods, already features a robust selection of gaming options, including over 800 slot machines, dedicated blackjack tables, and progressive jackpots.
The addition of the retail sportsbook will provide guests with an even more comprehensive entertainment experience, complementing the casino’s modern resort amenities and picturesque surroundings.
This development comes on the heels of DraftKings’ recent decision not to proceed with a proposed surcharge, a move that was well-received by its customer base. The sportsbook is expected to be a significant draw for visitors, further solidifying Lake of the Torches as a premier gaming destination in the region.
