Leadership Shake-Up at Evolution: Kaplan Departs CFO Role

Last updated: January 22, 2025

Jacob Kaplan, CFO of Evolution, is departing his role after nearly a decade at the live dealer pioneer. Joakim Andersson, who has no prior iGaming experience, will succeed him on February 18. The leadership change comes amid regulatory scrutiny in the UK and labor concerns in Georgia, though Evolution remains focused on bolstering its live casino dominance.

The leading live dealer casino of the world, Evolution, finally declared the leadership change. The Chief Financial Officer Jacob Kaplan confirmed his resignation from the post. He mentioned that he would transfer all the responsibilities to Joakim Andersson who would take up the position next month.

Evolution appoints new Chief Revenue Officer as the current incumbent resigns

He is to be inducted on February 18, and this will be his first induction into the iGaming sector, having worked at other corporate giants though never in the gambling industry.

Kaplan has been a prominent figure in the corporate landscape of Evolution for nearly a decade. Now, after nine years since he joined the Swedish company in 2016, he is ready to leave the company. In reference to his decision to step back, Evolution CEO Martin Carlesund said the following:

“Kaplan has been an integral part of our management team and played a key role in our expansion and mission to improve the company each day. We wish him all the best in the future.”

The chief executive welcomed Andersson into the company and indicated his willingness to work with the newly appointed revenue officer. Change is currently facing a number of its own issues.

The company saw its share value decline before the end of the year because of an investigation that the UK Gambling Commission was conducting on allegations that the supplier had been offering casino games to brands targeting players in the UK without having a license for such operations.

Earlier challenges have not affected the operational results of the company

Evolution faced severe demonstrations in Georgia where the local staff claimed that the company had subjected them to unfavorable working conditions. Evolution dismissed all the allegations it faced; instead, it informed the public that it would not scale down its full operational capacity in the country.

Evolution, in general, has performed solidly in the live dealer casino space, which, quite literally, Evolution helped create and define; its slot portfolio continues to struggle with achieving the same level of momentum.
