Despite a 24% increase in overall revenue year over year, Golden Matrix’s CEO recently pointed the finger at the brand as the cause of the company’s significant Q3 net income loss of $965,628.
Golden Matrix and Meridianbet had a deal in place for Golden Matrix to acquire Meridianbet for €300 million in January 2023, to be paid for with a combination of stock and cash. The Amended and Restated Purchase Agreement between MeridianBet and Golden Matrix was however signed in June.
The agreement was changed, including a reduction in the amount of cash that Golden Matrix will be required to pay from $50m to $30m, and it also extended the deal’s closing date, which was initially planned for H1 2023.
The deal was mentioned by Brian Goodman, CEO of Golden Matrix, in his Q3 comments. Profitability in Q3 was negatively impacted by a number of factors, including a significant rise in one-time legal and due-diligence costs related to the anticipated acquisition of the MeridianBet Group, which contributed to the reported net loss of $965,628.
