Nevada’s casinos have hit the baker’s dozen this month, as its gaming revenue has continued to climb for the 13th month in a row, to the tune of over $1 billion.
That’s right: the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) stated that Marc’s gross gaming revenue exceeded $1.355 billion, which represents a 27% year-on-year gain, and is up from March 2019’s $981 million by 38%.
Most of this win stems from slots, as is to be expected: $903 million, to be precise. But, surprisingly, it was table games that caused the huge surge, with a 50% year-on-year improvement of 50%, to the tune of $452.2 million, across tables, bingo and sports betting.
Michael Lawton, NGCB’s senior Economic Analyst, stated that it goes further than this: “March’s results further support strong demand for gaming activity, and consumer behavior remains consistent across multiple customer segments throughout the majority of markets statewide”
Baccarat was almost entirely responsible for the hump, seeing its own GGR skyrocket by 93% from March 2021, bringing in a total of $131.7 million. The game, very popular with Asian playe4rs, also tells another story: that international travel has once again become attractive, and sees tourists flocking to Sin City.
March 2022 is actually Nevada’s second-best on record, with only July 2021 experiencing a record high of $1.359 billion.
Yet, last month, Clark County (the jurisdiction under which Las Vegas falls) experienced its best-ever month, with $1.178 billion GGR. obviously, the Las Vegas Strip was responsible for most of this, likely due to a range of conferences held in the city throughout March, which resulted in more hotel stays and more casino revenue.
