Rainbow Six Siege, a game based on his book, is one of the top-selling games worldwide. More than 60 million players play Rainbow Six Siege on Xbox, PlayStation, and home computers. This is good news for the game, but it’s not the only accolade the game received. Rainbow Six Siege is growing as an eSports game for individuals and groups. The growth on the eSports scene promises to propel the game to even greater heights because of tournament play.
Created in 2015, Rainbow Siege Six is a tactical game that you play in the first person. You choose which side to play for: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, or France. There are many hostage situations to choose from, and players try to rescue the hostages. Players choose to play by themselves or as a team. People who want to play either choose to be an attacker or a defender. In addition to hostage rescue scenarios, there is also the chance to defuse bombs. And, depending on the team you choose to play on, there are also different tactical scenarios.
Rainbow Siege Six has different chapters. So far, there are 18 different seasons or chapters. Nearly all have content that players can download to give them new scenarios to play. Each chapter has either a new map — a new quest — or a reworked map with new competitors. To date, Rainbow Six Siege has 20 different map scenarios and 56 different possible players.
Since Rainbow Six Siege entered the market, it has received several awards and nominations. It won the Australian Games Award for Title of the Year. It received nominations for Best Evolving Game and Best Multiplayer Game. Rainbow Six Siege’s creator Ubisoft is no stranger to great gameplay. The French company has also created another gamer favorite, Assassin’s Creed. Assassin’s Creed has been a popular game for the company since 2007. It is an open-world game with many scenarios based on legends and mythology.
The immense popularity of the game makes it among the top 10 games worldwide.
Because Rainbow Siege Six is a very competitive multiplayer game, people play it in eSports tournaments. There are Rainbow Six Siege leagues in Europe, Asia, and North America. The leagues have small tournaments in their respective areas, and players move up to compete at higher and higher levels. Top teams from each league meet yearly in an invitational tournament with big prizes.
This year’s huge tournament, called the Six Invitational 2020, had 16 teams playing. The prize was $3 million among the teams, based on their ranks at the end of the tournament. The winning team took home a grand prize of $1 million among the team’s five players. Because Rainbow Six Siege has been gaining in popularity, bigger money may be around the corner. Perhaps next year’s tournament prizes will be much higher. Time for Rainbow Six Siege players to start brushing up on their gaming skills.
